CJ,
That problem drove me F****** Nuts.... I couldn't stand it.. I way always fighting (countersteering) the car and working against the wheel.
The mistake I made when I sold my car was not getting a 4.6is at the time. I stupidly bought a FX45 (it looked great on paper) but I missed my 4.4.
So after a year with the FX45 (which I had financed, another stupid mistake) I sold the FX45 for $6K LESS than I owed on it.. (I took a huge financial hit.) and leased the 4.8is.
I learned my lesson the hardway. Don't finance unless you are buying a car like a porsche as a second, weekend, track car. for your primary vehicle, if you stay under 15K miles a year, lease, lease, lease...
On the fx45 I was making payments of $1K a month (finance.) When I sold the car I still owed $6K. Now I am leasing for just over $1K a month and when the car is done on the lease, I hand it back in without owing anybody any money.
If the used car market weren't so bad, it would be a different story. But your lucky to sell private for $2K over wholesale. It took me 3 months to get the deal that I got on the FX45. And that was still a huge loss.
No one wants to put out $40K in cash for a vehicle when they can walk into a showroom and put down next to nothing.
Lesson learned..
Oh, and on a lease, you only pay tax on the portion of the vehicle you use.
and if you get into an accident, as long as the car is repaired, two panel, three panel, doesn't matter. It doesn't cost you a thing.
Try selling a car or trading in a car that has been in a 2-3 panel accident. That will cost you another $5-$10K on the value.. NOT ON A LEASE...
sorry for your steering problem. If your car is new, I would insist that BMW fix it or take it in 3 times and make it a lemon law..
B
