I needed two licence plate screws when I changed plates on one of our vehicles recently. I took one sample with me to the local building store (Home Depot was another 2 km away). I matched the diameter and thread pitch. I bought stainless steel machine screws. I think they cost $.18 each. That is less than we all spent on bandwidth reading this thread.
