Firstly. do you have Adaptive Drive as well as the self-levelling suspension on the rear!

There are sensors that check the height & whether the car is level. I had a sensor on the righthand rear fail once and it droped that righthand rear side of the X5 down by 20mm.

In the pdf of the self-levelling suspension it talks about the minium height and how to setup the sensors. In thoery one could recaliabrate the height but I don't think BMW would let you do it. Companies like Dinan probably could or some of the other highend tuners.
