I see what you mean.
I have done quite a few X5-3.0D exhaust now and I can tell you that there is no space there to bring a pipe from you outlet to come out over and out of the hole on the bumper!
Only way ,I could do it was to modify the outlet pipe,by cutting it and blocking on the back of the silencer and then open another outlet on the front of the silencer where the tailpipe can then be welded and fully working.
The easiest with less work is to add a pipe to the existing outlet pipes and fit tail pipes of your choice,a bit like this....(not my liking at all
