The 4.8is is one of the badest vehicles on the road. It's exhaust note is like music, it will blow off most cars on the road and even give an e46 M3 a run for it's money(ask me how I know). it's also roomy, comfortable, luxurious and can tow 6000lbs. Unfortunately, it's also one of the most expensive vehicles to maintain once it gets over 100k
My wife and I are heartbroken. We feel like we're taking our favorite dog to the pound. We've put about 24k in repairs in the two years that we've owned it and that's with me doing most of the work.15k of those repairs were warranty: the trans & diff replacement as well as the alternator bracket gasket oil leak which are all high cost repairs. Everything else we did a our selves: air suspension nightmare, Suspension components, brakes, electrical gremlins, trunk lid actuator, mirrors, etc,etc
Now that we have 7 month old twin boys, they are our new money pit

(they are the reason I haven't been on here in so long)
I'd like to thank all of you on this site for providing a great forum full of friendly, enthusiastic people. I haven't done anything to the X5 without looking here first.
We'll see some of you at Bimmerfest East...one of the best times I've had at any meet and one the most bad ass representations of the mighty E53. I didn't get much time to hang out last year because Kristen had her 135 in the show and I had my e46 with another forum.
Here's the listing my wife put on Craig's list. we'll probably just trade it in later this week at Kristen's dealership.
2005 BMW X5 4.8is LeMans Blue 355HP V8 AWD
We have an OEM load space divider a complete OEM cargo liner and LED angel eye bulbs that we'll probably sell separate.
Good luck with your X5s... may they serve you well for years to come!
