Just added Sub and amp to premium sound system

This afternoon I just finished adding a 10" subwoofer powered by a 300W sub amp to my X5 premium sounds system. It took me 2 1/2hours all together but I did my homework before and knew exactly what I wanted to do before starting this work. I am very pleased with the result as it provides the “oumph” which the premium system was lacking. The sub does not take too much space in the cargo area and can be removed in 15sec. The amp was added on top of the CD changer as you can see in the pics below. The sub and amp were sold together at Pep Boy’z for $120 only!.

For the sub bass audio signal from I used pins 7 (sub -) and 14 (sub +) from the 15pins premium Audio Connector and connect them to the high level inputs of the amp. I used ‘crimp and snap’ connectors to make the connections.

Well, congrats! If it sounds good to you that is great. What freq are you crossing over the sub at? Or did you just tune it by ear? I assume it is x-over'd fairly low to keep it from being muddier than it already is.

Once installed I played with the 'gain' and 'LPF' (Low Pass Crossover) buttons to tune it by ear

It looks like you did a good job and are happy with your results. Congrats! I simply don't want to have something sitting in the cargo area. I am waiting for one of our AV pro's to come up with a more "stock-looking but not stock-sounding" solution.

Yes I hear you but now that I have added the amp and do all the wiring I will think about a possible enclosure to replace the stock subs. I doubt that I will be able to fit a 10" though, I will probably have to go for a 8" in this case. In the meantime I can enjoy a nicer and deeper sound with this current solution. As I said I can remove the sub in 15sec and I am back with the factory sound.

Hey doc, have you considered something in the spare tire area? I happen to know that without the spare, you have ample room for one or two drop-in 8" bazookas down there (or a custom box if you prefer). Plenty of room for an amp and airflow too. Actually sounds good and retains 100% of your cargo room. Removal takes about 10 seconds. Totally stealth.

that little rack where your dvd and cd are has space under it and that's where the amp goes as stock. you may need to get the bigger rack but when I remove that panel on mine I have the full rack with the entire fender as a well for amap etc...i just can't get my old/bad amp out!

From your post I am not sure I understand what problem you have. Do you have a bad stock amp you need to replace or are you trying to ad a Sub amp to it?
Do you have a pic of your rack?
