X5 facelift and X ///M changes rumor

Saw this at another place. The only thing which I have also heard is 8-speed tranny and improvement on exhaust note(as part of R&D that went into new M5). 8-speed tranny as BMW(or someone from BMW) had mentioned a while back that future M-cars will have either DCT or 8-speed tranny. Not sure about KERS etc.

BMW had made changes to E90 M3 as well 6 months or so after release when regular M3 got facelift but those were mostly cosmetic......enjoy...I am just a messenger.....we will see.

Bad news for current X5 M owners?

According to one of our sources, the X5 facelift is due around march/april 2010.

There won't be any power or engine upgrade but the 6-speed automatic tranny may be replaced by a different system (8-speed tranny or even DKG) and the X5 M may get KERS, maybe optional.

Just wanted to mention it...my X5 M is going to be produced in January, so I guess I have no chance of getting a facelift.

Why I care ? The DKG and/or KERS upgrade could improve the performance figures of the X5 M, even if the power output stays the same.

Minor external changes are expected for the X5 M, LED daylight running lights are being tested (not sure if they make it into production) and the taillights look more like the new 7series lights.

A minor price increase is also to be expected.

OK, here's another update, a more precise one (ONLY valid for X5 M):

1. slightly different rear light LED orientation similar to BMW 7series and new 5series (whatever this means)

2. 8-speed auto tranny possible but performance gain shouldn't be expected, more important for fuel consumption (in this case: fleet consumption) and CO2 output

3. DKG not very likely

4. frontlights may stay unchanged, apparently the facelift with LED lights or different LED tubes has been cancelled

5. best part: software update for improved V8 engine-/exhaust sound, retrofit (!) possible on older cars

Again: only valid for X5 M, not regular X5 or X6 (I assume the engine-/exhaust sound update would apply to the X6 M too).
