1st service for X5M

Is it true that the first service for X5M is about 15,000 miles? My dealer won't take my car for service til about 15,000 miles. Im looking for any official document that will say that.

I think they will change oil at the first anniversary if you have less than 15,000 miles or you can pay for one anytime. I don't really feel I want to wait till 15,000 miles, especially for the first oil change, just doesn't seem to make sense to me.

Many dealers will do it at the first anniversary, but not all according to other posters.

If you have done 15,000 miles in one year a lot of it was likely on the highway anyway, which is a lot easier than city driving.

Still waiting to see a report of a failed engine caused by following the manufacturer's maintenance procedures. They have had this interval since 1999, and oils have improved in that time as well.

I think that BMW knows what they are doing and I am fine with the systems that are built in to monitor the car. I see no reason to change oil more often then scheduled maintenance. As stated by another poster these engines hold up. I am much more concerned over the long term with all the tech gizmos going out than the engine. Oil aint going to save them.......Steve

BTW.....My wife has had many BMWs and only puts 3-4k a year on them and they have always changed the oil each year without any issue.
