X3 handbrake adjustment .

hi guys..

Does anyone have any idea how to tighten a handbrake/parking brake on a 2005 X3. Its pulling up about 8 clicks and struggles to hold when i stop on a hill.

Thanks for any help..

Weasel will become famous soon enough
If you lift up on the leather covering around the handle you will see 2 nuts poking out on the bottom of the e-brake handle. Pull the handle up a few clicks (what would be normal) then tighten the nuts equally with a deep socket, a little at a time. (you will feel tension being put on them) and periodically check the e-brake feel by letting it down and pulling it back up. You want to end up with about 3-4 clicks when it is tight, but not tighter because you don't want them to be dragging while driving causing them to wear.

depending how loose they are that might not work. go to this page and scroll down to E brake won't hold

You can tighten them from the a screw in the rotor. it is an easy
fix but somewhat time consuming
