Another air strut issue

A couple of years ago after much pain and confusion by my local German car "expert" we found some issues with my front air strut system. Replaced the compressor and the left strut for $$$$$. Later as the right strut gave way, I realized how easy it was to R&R myself and picked up a rebuilt one from Arnot for half the price of the dealer strut and had it replaced one Saturday morning before lunch.

All is well until recently both sides are compressed in the morning when I come out to the car. when I open the door the system kicks in and both sides inflate. Im guessing there might be a leak in the air line from the compressor to the front system. Any suggestions on where to look or other possible causes?

It's a 2003 4.4

Thanks,
Jeff

First place to look is the air strut inlet connectors. Those are very easy to leak. Soapy water and a cellphone camera is the way I observe them for leaks.

Also , as I experienced on mine, if one strut is leaking that one goes down first and the other side follows later. If they are loosing exactly same level and you can not find any probable leaks, you must observe the valve group under the car.

I hope it is not a serious leak.

What I noticed yesterday was they both where down. Where is the valve group under the car? (I'll have to find a decent repair manual).

I personally did not open and observe it but as I know the valve group is under the cover of plastic passenger side. There is the air tank and valve group.

Better check strut inlets before taking the plastic cover under the car.

Ok, I've been burried so I too this to a guy I trust in town to look at. He says I need a new strut except I've just replaced that 18 months ago, only 13,000 miles. I can't believe the strut is bad already. I got from Arnott, any history on these guys?
