Thew good news is that it is external and not internal. I would replace it, not unless you use the X for short trips. Wouldn't want that to go out on you if you are 500 miles from home.

They do fail (prematurely in my book), in addition to looking like crap.
I guessed your part number is 24107512755. I replaced mine over the winter - was changing the ATF filter&fluid and saw how crumbly the plastic was and didn't want to wait to get stranded.
