how to change starter motor on 2002 4.4 auto

Can anyone help?
My starter motor on my E53 4.4 2002 will not turn over.
When I put the key in the ign and attempt to start the car all the dash board lights go out and the starter just "clicks".
Battery is fine.
Can anyone tell me the procedure for a starter motor remove /refit.
Car has done 87000 miles.
Regards,
Lez

How did you determine the battery is fine? Reporting its voltage would help us to help you better.

For example..a battery around 10 volts can still illuminate the dash lights but not start the vehicle...which will usually end up with the starter making the "click" sound you mentioned.

If your cluster is unlocked...do OBC TEST 9.....or if you have a multimeter....report back what the battery voltage is before tearing into replacing the starter. You may just need a jump, a battery recharge, or a new battery.
