I'm on a plane in 3 hrs but James just sent me this:
Not the best recording/video ever but it gives me a grin knowing it's running.

How is there no check engine and whatnot? Did the motor just work with all the wiring?

The DME of the 4.4 is able to run the 4.6. I'm guessing if I drove it around a bit and mashed down on the accelerator it would toss out a code but it can deal with it pretty well, not as well as the tune Terraphantm built me based off the 4.6is and 4.4 tunes.

Very bad ass. That engine will fling that car around proper.

Man, I hope so. I can't wait to really see and hear it.
DUDMD of bimmerforums lives really close to my place in Seattle so he'll be updating the software based on a combo 4.6 and 4.4 flash. If needed, I can play with an aplina tune for the transmission but it means I will likely lose the normal "drive" mode and basically be in "sport" all the time. I'm still pondering that. I'd rather not spend more on a Dinan flash for the transmission but I might down the road.

Is there a particular reason you are sticking with the slushbox? That thing with a stick would be money

I agree, and thought it was getting the 6spd until I saw the pictures posted of the engine going in/out.

Either way, going to be a helluva thing. Much fun will be had.

I'm scared to do a manual conversion. I work in Seattle. Bad traffic and bad streets. For now, an automatic works. I would love one but not till I retire.
