Glad this issue got resolved for you OP.
On the side of ECS, maybe they had this one kit get the wrong springs tossed in?

The name of kit is 33536779860KT which is the part# of the springs not compatible with E53 yet they included correct lower and upper springs. The person or persons who originally assembled the first kit simply made a mistake including the wrong springs and even naming the kit the same. ECS Tuning now tells me that while they sold bunch of kits with these very same springs, they did have few returns but nobody bothered to explain and got to length as I did, so they kept selling them without changing anything. How the rest got installed it's beyond me. I imagine there is number of E53's running around on poorly fitting springs.
