OK. I am ready to tackle this vanos solenoid issue.
I got a credit store from RockAuto but they don't carry the OEM solenoids. They have DORMAN for half the price I can get the BMW solenoids from the dealer. I research the DORMAN brand and it seems to be good but there is one BMW guy that had problems with it. Any thoughts?
BTW, I have no codes but most likely as you, I will get the performance back by replacing these.

You are asking for trouble going with a dormant unit. Why don't you just get the rebuilt ones from Dr Vanos or you can repair the vanos yourself with a seal kit from beisian. Its not that hard

Right. There is no kit for n62. The solenoids need to be replaced.
I used Beisan vanos kit on the 330xi and it's working great.

ECS has the OE ones for sale right now for $120.99. I'm going to order all 4 and replace them just as a maintenance item. Same thing with the ISM... which is on sale now at FCP Euro for $102.39.

Ahhhh... E53 maintenance, nothing like it.
