DSC light lit up!

Hi all! Yesterday, I was driving my X on road and the DSC light suddenly lit up (only DSC light). I tried to press DSC button briefly and also tried to press it for several seconds, but the light kept on. I put my X to local BMW service center to have it checked. Hope it is only minor fault of sensor or computer. Do you guys have any idea on this?

The guy in BMW service center called me and told me that the fault code indicated the problem was the precharge pump of DSC. He said they would check the wiring harness to see if there was electric power to the pump, if there was no problem with electric power, then the precharge pump was dead and needed to be replaced. I asked for the cost, he said the part costed about US$1200 plus labor cost. What the fuck???!!!

I told the guy that just tried to clear the fault code and run the car for test to see if the fault came again. He said they could do it for me but the chance was very low, since there were more than 200 faults in the memory.

Do you guys have any idea on this? If it is the precharge pump of DSC (Compressor DSC, part number 34511165905) dead, can I replace it myself? Is it easy to do the replacement? Thanks for help!

The BMW dealer called me several days ago, they said they replaced the DSC precharged pump with a new one, but the DSC light still was on after the replacement, so they thought the old precharged pump was still good, the problem was the DSC/ABS control unit, it needed to be replaced. I remember that I adjusted the tie rod length before and asked them to reset the steering angle sensor for me, but did not ask them to recode the ABS/DSC control unit for this, so I ask them to recode the ABS/DSC control unit before I decided to replace the control unit. However, the dealer said they could not recode the control unit since there was fault code in the system, it must be replaced. I checked TIS for further info, in BMW TIS, it said the ABS/DSC control unit needs to be coded if:
1. the ABS/DSC control unit is replaced;
2. the steering angle sensor is replaced;
3. repair job in front suspension is done;
4. the battery is disconnected.

I cannot understand why they cannot recode the ABS/DSC control unit for me? Any idea? I really need your help!!!

Finally, I bought a Bosch DSC control unit and had it installed and coded by non-authorized BMW dealer, total cost including labor is US$700. Much cheaper than BMW dealer of US$2,180. Now my X backs to normal. Very happy!

I had that problem but the light went out after I left it in the garage over night. I also called the dealer and he said that tonight if you leave the bmw parked it will go into sleep mode likee other times when it is not driven for a while and then it will reset the light.

My mechanical is very good, but when the kit is remplaced, he say me that are comunication, but the lights still on and could be problem of some ABS speed sensor... Then I need know, if is necesary recoded or programing the new unit, He have a scanner obd2... Please help me!!!!

you need an autologic or bmw dis scanner to access a lot of the bmw sub systems such as abs. Find someone that can read all sub systems and see if there is an error with one of the sensors.

I had a failed speed sensor in one of my wheels and was able to view which sensor it was with the autologic scanner.
