Replace the oil seperator...Replace the valve cover gasket for good measure. You might want to check your valve cover it self. I had to replace that too. It was cracked and leaking, causing the smoke from the engine bay but no oil actually leaking onto the ground. It was actually leaking onto another part so there was no oil spots on the ground. |

Make sure you also replace the oil dipstick tube since it is a redesigned part (single wall tube versus old style double wall tube) to help prevent this from happening.

This is wierd , i had the oil separator replaced yesterday with the newer updated part number #11617534237 (Kit) & #11157532628 (Hose)
My mechanic said that i didn't need the #11437563831 (Guide Tube). Any ideas? I have a 01 3.0i (Cdn) |

Then a repeat of the problem you'll be a havin'. Show the SIB to the mechanic and ask him about it. It is pretty clear that all 3 parts need to be replaced.

I picked up the x5, the guide stick tube for sure needed replacing since it was the old double wall style. My indy mechanic never heard of the tube being replaced. I'm glad i got it done though. Hopefully no freezing this winter now
