Here's SIB 2420205 for harsh downshift for '04 and '05 X5 - replaced SIB 240106.
(won't work for a '00 - but SIB does exist)

SIB 240406 was not for the E90's. It was for some E46, E39, and E85 models and it had nothing to do with harsh 2-1 downshifts.

Here is SIB 240106 direct from BMWNA for the harsh downshift for 4.4/4.8 X5 (N62).


(mgruber ......yup the other two TSB #'s are wrong. My bad and mis-information from Al Gores internet)

Where did you get this? Do you have any BMW reference for it? (i.e. TIS, SIB, etc.)

I have this problem still even after trying the transmission reset and the dealer reflashing. I am going to be taking it back soon and see if I can take someone for a ride and show them how to replicate the problem. I will also print out the information on the TSB#.

So what's the procedure for a 2006 4.8is? The 30-sec throttle push method or something else?
