yes, shipped the DK head twice and they sent me a brand new one instead of repairing the old one.

I just bought an OPS head to go with my EDIC (yellow head) from the Ebay seller atechpro. I bought my EDIC from him and haven't had any problems with it at all, I can recommend him.

However I bought a Unix based HDD with DIS V57 and SSS V32 from the Ebay seller 2elite4 and whilst he seems honest he won't give me the Unix root user password so I can shut the system down correctly.

eBay Seller: atechpro: Parts Accessories items on eBay Motors

Message him through Ebay, he will supply the heads without laptops and is a very good guy to deal with.

I've now got my OPS head and briefly tested it today, all seemed ok. Suprisingly it came up with a message saying that the firmware in the OPS head was newer (Version 6.36) than the V32 SSS I am using (Version 6.34). I am yet to code anything with it but it seems good. So full marks to Auto Tech Products for me.

Hi I have not got a GT1 yet but does it take a OPS head to reprogram the ECU in a E46?
Do I have to buy both a GT1 and a OPS head?
I can see Auto Tech Products has an offer but he is more expensive compared to the rest.

Cheers and thanks for all the good info to all of you.
John

Wow, this is a great thread. Are you guys all talking about the chinese made units? I've heard bad things from a few people, especially trying to get customer service of a unit fails. Anyone want to chime in? What's your total investment? reliability? Is it worth it to spend 5k on a reputable German unit backed with guaranteed customer service? Thanks in advance.

I had a bad HDD and the SSS software DVD was messed up but with Jose's help Yohotech made it right.
In for about $800(GT1 & the laptop of fleabay)
Recouped about $600 so far.
I was brave enough to get the MB Compact Star 3 too from Jackie. No problems and it works like it should. Saved me money on the W203 & R230 already.
OPPS head is on my wishlist.

No, for the E46 all you will need is the yellow EDIC head. All I can say is that I can vouch for Auto Tech's products, and when you read through this thread about the all hassles people have had in sending back multiple heads I think you really need to consider if the cheapest is the best.
