POSSIBLY AN ABS WHEEL SENSOR. FIRST YOU NEED TO RETRIEVE THE ERROR CODES. THEN ACT ACCORDINGLY. A WHEEL SENSOR COSTS ABOUT $40 PLUS LABOR.

I think it may be your ABS module. A new one costs about $1800 but there are places that can repair your module which costs $300. If they can't repair it they will sell you a refurb for an extra $75. All you will need to do is reprogram the refurb. This just happened to my brothers e38. I'll get more information later tonight.

the same problem happened to my 2002 X5 4.4i at around 46,000 miles . the cause was a wheel speed sensor . my car was repaired free of charge by warranty . there are numerous electronics fitted to X5 that will cause DSC and ABS lights . these are electronically controlled safety systems . a diagnostic computer will read a fault code from electronics identifying faulty component . reading fault code from car should take 10 minutes. repair could take around 1 hour , depending upon repair requirements . bmw service departments have all necessary facilities . individual components within safety systems are numerous , costing from less than $100 to , i don`t really know , say $1,000 . i`m sure that other people may read this thread so please post reply whenever you have identified or repaired the problem and good luck . X5 `s can have many problems that cost $$$ for repair . welcome to X5 world:xoutpost:

It could even be an indication that your alternator is on the fritz. Get diagnosis done asap. Good luck what ever it is.

your BMW x5 has wiring problem.
Let me tell you my story. Americans put that kidn of car on auctions,as cost money to repair it. Well anyway I got 2002 with 65k miles on it,and and all worked fine, but in a day same thing happened as you got. Then i paniced. I wa shoping it is ABS sensor or something, but i took it to dealer and paid over 2000$ for that issue. IT was due to throttle body and engine wiring. Sorry for you,if you got same shit. Someone just got rid of car,and you liek me got that problem on your sholders :-( If they say it is wiring and you don't have 2k to repair it,trade it in and give problem to other person.
But before making any assuptions get OBD2 reader and read out erroe, mine said throttle body something. Well anyway BMW service advisor said what i had is very common for BMW it can happen at 20k miles or even at 100k,but only once in life time. |
