V8 Camshaft Sensors

Hi all,

There are various threads pertaining to the fitment of the camshaft sensors and their locations for the 3.0, but none (that I can find anyway!) for the V8.

Just wondered if anyone has any further information as to the locations of the camshaft sensors for the V8 4.4 sport 2001 EURO spec (right hand drive). The US version is probably the same, although they may have swapped things over as you guys drive on the wrong side..

Thanks,

Ian

It's only the wrong side if someone is coming at you in your lane. Wish I could help you. This was the SES light cause for me awhile back. Seems to be a typical problem. Had it done at my Idaho dealer, whose service I will always rate a '10' on a '5' scale.

Both the camshaft positioning sensor and the camshaft actuators are mounted to the front of the head on each side. If you look at the front of the engine the small electrical fitting is the sensor and the large one is the actuator.

The one in the picture is the camshaft sensor. If you look a little further down you will see a metal clip in the picture, this is the plug for the camshaft actuator.

I've seen the plug you're talking about, I'm just looking to change the sensors. I shouldn't have to touch the actuator/plug assembly when I'm changing the sensor should I? Thanks

You should be all set with just the sensor, very easy swap. If you run into a problem just shoot me a PM
