Transmission Reset Settings?

I have been having down shift issues for a while now and since I have 3rd party warranty I am going to rebuild my transmission for other reasons then the down shift I am having. The X5 is at 117K. I have been reading old posts on the board with people on here doing this Transmission Reset thing and they say that the hard down shift goes away... So I decided to try it. Please correct me if I am wrong:

- turn key to position II
- press gas pedal all the way to the floor, past the 'click'
- hold like this for ~ 30 seconds
- lift foot off gas pedal
- turn key all the way to the right (i.e. start car)
- drive forward

I have done this twice so far and I felt no difference nor have I seen anything saying on the cluster saying that something has been done. Am I suppose to see something different or just guess blindly if the transmission adaptions were reset?

Hi,look all this mode does is obligate the tranny's module to relearn the adaptation, your way of driving,it doesn't reset anything.
I have the downshift issue even after tranny was rebuilt, now I am on hold for a new Valve Body,so I hope that helps to smoother the rear end bump.
But trans.shop guy said that it's not because it's worn or faulty,it's more of let's say design flaw.He went to BMW Dealership to have the Tranny Module flashed and asked BMW mechanics about a rear ending and was told that even newer ones are doing the same, not that harsh but they still do,even if the module was flashed with the software that supposed to resolve the issue.
That is the thing....I hate to drive an ultimate Driving whatever and to be disturbed by something like this.
It's really funny 'cause it doesn't do it while in the Sports mode......odd but true
