Selling my 4.6is
http://www.xoutpost.com/classifieds/...37k-miles.html Still not 100% I want to do this, just got an Audi S4 and I love having a 6 speed, but the X is more practical. Thanks for looking. Last edited by villajoe; 10-27-2010 at 02:13 PM. |

What a beaut! My favorite E53...and a low mileage, well kept one at that.
I was on the fence for so long about letting mine go, had several potential buyers and a couple who are still waiting for my mind to change, lol! Just couldn't seem to let her go. Decided to keep in the family and keep my eye on an X6Monster...soon as most gremlins are resolved. GLWS! |

awesome 4.6is. my moms looks exactly the same (with about double the mileage though!)
we were thinking about selling hers, and when we mentioned it to our indy he looked at us like we had 4 heads. Basically, the 4.6is is timeless, and i dont think there are many SUVs these days that are built quite as good as they are.

Are you guys trying to convince me to keep it? I agree it's timeless, and I'm not crazy about the looks of the new ones.
Decision decisions! Thanks for the compliments! |

If you're looking for a reason to keep it, I doubt if you need AWD down in Tampa...nothing a 6spd swap couldn't fix. I did it in my 7, can cost anywhere from 5-10k depending on how you buy, labor, etc. Physically the same engine and trans as a 540i6, and I'm sure for someone who loves their X and is willing to take a little time doing the work, I don't see any reason why it couldn't be done. I've strongly considered doing it to my X since I drive a humbling POS 90 Blazer during the winter season here in Boise. It could be a poorman's LeMans X5

I've thought about that James, it would be a lot more fun to drive, the tranny would be more reliable, and better mpg!
For $10k I think I'd rather do a supercharger though! |

Touche, but you'd still have the weak link of the auto trans. The swap alone will shed tons of weight along with giving it's own little boost in power due to less moving parts, lighter flywheel assembly, better gearing ratios and ditching the AWD system, making it 100% RWD.
I know it's a pipe dream, but it would be cool to be...the 1st!

Wow I wish I could afford to take it off your hands. I feel that its Alpina-built engine will make it one of those rare, exotic cars (like the 500E Benz) that people will cult over in years to come.
