Read through the whole thread. There is no clear consensus on the correct one yet. According to post 33, 53U isn't the right one.

If there is a newer (better) revision I also would be willing to pay more! Surely any version of this should be better than what I have currently (dim and bleeding) though.

Thanks in advance!

Is anyone able to provide definative advice on the best part number to replace the LCD screen with please?

Can anyone confirm that the increasing numbers from ....51 to ....54 signify later releases of the same functional and dimensional spec? i.e is ...54 just an updated version of ....51, or are there really differences in viewing angle.

The original direct replacement is part#LQ065T9BR51. That is the number that is on the back of the monitor I removed from my 02 4.4i X5 with Nav non DSP. Sorry for the giant pic.

@ZX-Ken thank you for posting that.

I have to wonder though if that would be the same for an '04? mine isn't unusable yet, but its pretty hideous. I am going to pester the dealer about it next time I am in. Figure I get enough work done there they can hook me up with the part #

Thanks ZX-Ken
I'm will order the original LCD part number just to be safe.

It still may be that the higher numbers are an improved spec, but we may never know as the specs are not in the public domain.

As usual it is all a closely guarded secret controlled by those intent on separating owners from their dollars.

It would be interesting to know why so many screens need to be replaced!

Mine just decided to start an autonomous crack (no impact) after a 6 hour road-trip. It seemed to get pretty hot behind the screen (heater running also) and my guess is that the mounting assembly does not allow for sufficient expansion and contraction of the LCD.
These thing never seem to happen under warranty though, do they

thanks again

If you have a source, I'm down. My incorrect viewing angle is driving me nuts.
