There are no stupid questions!
I have been following various Eonon threads cos my radio BM54 is starting to go sideways but I have a question. When I replace the front screen/ monitor why is it necessary to leave the existing radio in place and plug back into it. Seems strange as it is not really working very well. |

Good day!!
I'm not sure we (meaning ME) understand the question... Maybe I'll do some research to see if I can find what you are talking about... One second... Be right back... Maybe.... Cheers!!

If there is nothing wrong with the monitor in the dash, no reason to replace it. The radio sounds like what you need to replace.

I could have been clearer I guess, the video I have seen shows that after running the extension cable back to the spare wheel well and plugging the 2 smaller leads into the extension cable the new cable is plugged back into the BM radio in the trunk is this correct?

True but radio repair is about $300 here and a whole new system is a couple of hundred more with more features . Plus my ulf is not working and Bluetooth would be nice.

That's not the radio in the trunk, it's the DSP amp. There's a pretty large thread on how to install these and similar units. Search for the Dynavin install thread (identical process) and the "stay away from Eonon" thread (don't believe the name, largely positive). Both are very detailed.

What exactly is happening when you say your BM54 is going sideways?

It is a figure of speech meaning that the BM54 is just not doing what it should be... Could be anything... Like your printer or TV... It's just not working correctly... Cheers!!

William, that made me crack up! My X has been going sideways for quite some time now...despite all my diagnosis tools and this educational forum, that's all I can come up with. Sad!
