Hi all

I have windows 7 OS

So do i plug the scanner into the car and does it do the rest?

I haven't touched the car yet

I've loaded the little disc that came with it but it says device drivers are not installed

the version on the disc is: P.A soft v1.4.0 2007 Date modified 22/05/2009 and the size of the file is 3.9MB

I have it running on windows 7. it took awhile to install the drivers but it runs smoothly now.

I have FTD2XX.DLL and FTD2XX.SYS dated from 2005.

I modified FTD2XX.ini to change the line:

USB\VID_0333&PID_0137.DeviceDesc="BMW Scanner"

to

USB\VID_0333&PID_0137.DeviceDesc="BMW Scanner V14x"

(To match device description with one in pdf manual.)

You should see "BMW Scanner V14x" in the control panel as the result.

AFAIK that is paid software, they should offer you proper support also.

It was very difficult to get any support lately ("proper support" can be found in the museum or on this forum in my experience).

On the original question:
1. download demo version from
http://www.bmw-scanner.com/?page=bmw-scanner_files_download
2. install drivers from it
3. modify ini file in the “drivers” folder of your installation
4. reinstall drivers from that location
5. verify that you have proper device in “control panel”
6. verify that your software works

P.S. I’ve got an answer “Yes, I do understand English” when I asked Microsoft Customer Support rep “Do you understand that I run Windows 7 as a Virtual Machine on my MacBook?”

I had no ideea, since I only use EDIABAS or DIS. It doesn't sound like a good business model though.

Could you email me your driver files and i'll try that

Once you have it working in any windows it should be easy to move to Windows 7:

Make sure that device has exactly same name in the device manager on both system “BMW scanner v14x”.

Copy folder “c:\BMWScan140” from Win Vista computer to Win 7 one.

Right click on the BMWScan140.exe and set Properties/Compatibility to “Windows XP (SP3)” and “Run as an administrator”

BMWScan140.exe should work now.
