X5 vs. Tail of the Dragon (pics/video from this weekend)

The wife unit and I decided that we'd spend our honeymoon at the Dragon and Cherohala Skyway with other car friends. The weather forecast wasn't great, the weathermen were calling for rain all weekend. Luckily, we only had damp roads in the mornings, that went to patchy and to dry by lunchtime.

Friday we took the 4.6iS to the Cherohala Skyway (Roadcourse), and Saturday we drove the Dragon (Autocross). Here's some video from the Dragon. (Careful if you get motion sickness... lol)

The "those-are-bling-only" brakes absorbed and released a metric fuckton of energy, then changed back to normal color, without a hint of brake fade.

Enjoy.

Thanks for sharing. The X looks like she is ready for anything. The stance is simple amazing. And I know those guys that say drilled rotors do nothing but bling are just silly.

Nice vid & pics, J!
I know both roads very well; my pick is the Cherohala Skyway, and the NC road(s) leading to Deal's Gap, on the NC side.

Hope you had a great honeymoon!
GL, mD
PS: shoulda dropped a PM...I would have hooked up.

Great pix and video. Looks like a road I'd love to drive. Those Brits from Top Gear need to come over here and drive that. They'd change their tune.
