Anyone tried after market keyless remote?

If I bought one of these can a locksmith program and cut this key for my X? The dealer is around $250. Anyone with experience?

You got the link?Usually you dont need programming,as the immobilizer chip is transferred from your OE remote/key.
If you search more, you wil even find remote where you can even transfer your OE key,no need to ge it cut.

If its like the one that I got as a replacement from my car seller, its ... ok.

Yes, not OEM quality for sure. Buttons need some major push pressure before activating (as in OEM is '1mm' of push, these are 3-4mm before button activates lock) and the plastic feels cheap.

However, the metal key works fine, and the remote door open clicker works so for a budget key, its fine. I do use my OEM key as the main key so I can't comment on longevity though.

Yes, it was cut locally at a "real" key place/locksmith. This key was part of my pre-sale contract with the (non-BMW) dealership, so I really don't know what it cost to cut.

I didn't know non-dealer can cut BMW key; it's probably save to say less than dealer would.

A lot less. There is a guy in Brooklyn that cuts these keys for about 20 - 25 bucks. I imagine the dealer charging like a half hour for this. So deff way more than $25.
