Finally got round to buying the parts to fix my panoramic sunroof

Well long time no problems, but...

With the nice weather coming, I finally got round to getting the parts I need to fix the panoramic sunroof problem. The repair kit, it turns out, is only for the normal sliding roof (not panoramic).

I have two main problems with the roof on my 2004 X5

It opens/closes, but since theres a broken runner, it vibrates like mad sometimes, and I cant tilt open it no that the part on the runner is completely snapped. Before that I could open the front bat the rear would stick open.

The main pain is the vibration so I bought item 6 in the next diagram ...

Here's what I got in the box...

Just to get the part arrowed in red.

Although my original idea was just to change the runner part (will take me about 10 minutes). If anyone has experience of this, do you think that changing the long cable included would also fix the sticking rear roof problem? If not I can always cut off the triangular section as described here ...

Anyone thats managed to repair the stick rear section problem would be a real help in helping me decide if I want to do more than getting rid of the vibration.

Its a pain having to remind the wife NOT to push the button up , but only back/forward.

And if its not too difficult I'd rather do a proper job and use all the parts that cost me €220 to buy even if originally I only planned to use 1 out of the 14 parts

Any advice would be really appreciate, so thanks in advance.

Cheers. Kev
