Need Advise on Blower Motor

Driving home today I had the AC on high and then suddenly the blower stopped. The display is working fine and I can still feel cold air from the vent. The problem is the fan isn't blowing at any speed. I checked the three fuses and they seem fine. Do you think it could be the final stage resistor or am I looking at a new blower motor?

Any help would be greatly appreciated. BTW it is a 2001 X5 4.4

Usually the blower keeps running when the FSR fails. But I have been surprised before. Good luck. If blower, dash is coming out.

Has anyone else had the blower stop working as a result of the Final Stage Resistor? I thought I saw a few other posts from people who had similar issues. If it is the blower, any idea how much the dealer will charge?

Thanks
JD

I think you should really avoid the dealer. The labor is going to be insane.

I mean you can search for FSR blower not working and see if you can find anyone with same issue. FSR is cheaper than taking out the dash, so maybe give that a try anyway.

Did you find out if your problem was the FSR? I am having similar problems except that the rear vents are still blowing just not the front ones. I would be interested in what you have found out.

I just wanted to close the loop for the next person searching for this problem. Replacing the FSR fixed the issue. Thanks again to the great people on this board for all their help.... You guys save us a fortune at the dealer. The part was $85 shipped and took 15 minutes to replace.
