Using GT1 to find a leaky injector

Is this possible with GT1? I used it quite a bit but I didn't find a way to test the injectors. I know I can take the sparkplugs out and look but I was hoping for an easier way.

I have never seen that. Maybe a true expert like Killcrap will show up and share the know how.

When you say "leaky" are you talking about an injector that's clogged somehow and dripping into the cylinder? Or are you talking "leaky" and spraying or dripping fuel on top of the intake? If it's the latter,...then you need to replace the seal. If it's the a dirty injector you suspect there two ways to test an injectors flow:

Cheap way: Pull the injector and stick it in a glass jar, (while still connected to the fuel rail and electrics). Turn the engine over and watch the pattern. It is possible to measure flow rates, but keeping the injector flowing on a car like the BMW is going to be very tricky electrically. While I've done this on other vehicles, from the looks of the manifold set up on a 4.4, I doubt this is even possible.

Proper way: Remove the injectors from the car, and put them in an injector flow bench. Usually, these benches can both clean and test injectors. Like this:
Fuel Injector Optimizers | C-501 Automotive Optimizer

You may need to find a very well equipped shop that has one of these. The basic version is $1,600...the one linked is $2K.

Alternative Proper Way: Replace the injectors with new ones.

What To Try Before Anything Else: Clean the injectors. Use a system that uses shop air, and force feeds the injector cleaner into the fuel rail, (no gasoline flowing...just cleaner). You can also feed in engine de-carbonizer with the same set up. I recomment the OTC Kit. You will also need their Fuel Injector Test Kit, (so you have the proper adapters to hook up to the car, plus the valves to bleed off the pressure when you're done. You'll also want to test the existing fuel pressure so you can match it with shop air.)

Here's the OTC Injector cleaning Rig:
Fuel Injection Testers/Kits OTC 7448 OTC7448 OTC TOOLS 7448 - Fuel Injection Canister Cleaning System

The OTC Cleaner:
Fuel System OTC 7000A OTC7000A OTC TOOLS 7000A - Fuel Injection Canister Cleaner, Case

OTC Fuel Injection Test Kit:
Fuel Injection Testers/Kits OTC 6550 OTC6550 OTC TOOLS 6550 - Fuel Injection Master Adapter Kit

Decarbonizer:
Motorvac 400-0060 Motorvac Corp 400-0060 - (6) CarbonClean MV-6 Maximum Strength Cleaner – 16oz Cans

I have used the above set up many times, on a number of different vehicles. It almost always make a car run better; sometimes very significantly. It does NOT always solve a car's problems. If the problem really is a clogged injector, there's a pretty good chance this will work. If an injector is faulty....no.

Also, there are considerably more sophisticed versions of the above linked OTC machne. Like this $1,600 Snap-on machine: EEFS505A, Fuel System Decarbonizer
But it does exactly the same thing as the OTC rig, and you're still going to need adapters. Snap on also sells a similar set up to the OTC, (at about 3x the price). I am not fond of this Snap-on system as it mates with their Fuel Injector Test Set. The OTC set has many more adaptors. The OTC is basically all brass stuff. Much of the Snap-on adaptor sets are plastic. I've owned both, and sold my Snap-on set on eBay. You pretty much need to get your test set and cleaning rig from the same vendor; they need to be used together.

There are also similar machines that claim to atomize the cleaner before forcing it in the engine. I have not see one of these in the US, but Ed China used one of these on a recent episode of Wheeler Dealers. Better than the above systems? I can't really say. But all these injector cleaning systems really do work.

Last year when I replaced the chain guides, vanos and all that stuff I wanted to make sure the injectors were cleaned as well. So, I took them to a local place for a rebuild. I was under the impression that the shop didn't have the right filters or o rings. They gave me a piece of paper with the before and after test results but I wasn't convinced they used the right stuff. I remember the injector filters were different than the original but they said that wasn't a problem. Anyway, after I put everything back together the car seems to have a starting problem which lately I narrow it down to a leaky injector. I cannot find anything with INPA or GT1. I suspect one or more injectors leak when the fuel is under pressure and it has hard time to start while warm after running for a while. In the morning starts very well. I think the mixture is too reach due to dripping in the cylinder and after a few cranks starts but with a smell of gas.

I would suggest that you install a pressure gauge on the fuel line feed to injector rail. If the pressure stays the same overnight, then I doubt that you have anything leaking.
If the pressure goes to zero or very low, either an injector is leaking or the fuel pump check valve doesn't seal correctly.

If there is a pressure drop, I would use a pair of vise-grip pliers to gently pinch the rubber fuel line to the injector rail, before your gauge. If the pressure continue to drop overnight, big chances are that an injector is the problem, if pressure remains the same, the pressure drop was related to the fuel pump check valve and is not the cause of your problem (just make the cranking longer).

If you think an injector is leaking, you can do like it has been suggested, either try to clean them in the car with a cleaner + presssure machine or remove them to be checked, but you already did that. You could remove them and build a setup to pressurize fuel on the inlet and see if it drops over a period of time.

Thanks guys. Skyline, if I knew this then I would have bought the kit instead. The rebuilt cost me more than the kit and they must have messed up something.

Turbo_bimmer, I forgot to mention. I had the car two times a while back at an experienced Indy who tried to find the problem with autologic but no luck.
He did the fuel pressure test and he noticed the pressure going down a bit after turning the engine off but for some reason he didn't mention or relate anything to the injectors.
Since neither him nor me were were able to find the problem using the diagnostic tools I did a search for 'leaky injector symptoms ' and found pretty much what I experience.
To replace all the injectors is costly. I will try the tricks you guys mention or release the fuel pressure after turning the engine off and see how it starts after a few hours.

I'm having a similar problem and I've been trying to track it down and it may be a coincidence but I replaced my timing chain, Vanos, rebuilt injectors, etc., as well. I plan on installing this kit (check valve kit 16149068988) to see if it cures the problem if I can ever find a vendor that has it in stock!

Try this link:
Bmw 16149068988 CONSTANT PRESSURE VALVE16999914
I am not convinced yet that the problem is caused by the pressure regulator though but that's an easy and non-expensive solution.
Please let me know how it goes. Now that the weather is colder here I don't enjoy working on the car. Besides, since the engine cools off faster, this issue doesn't happen as ofter.
I am going to get a fuel pressure gauge and test the pressure with the hose pinched.
