GAL: Speed sensitive volume control.
The speed sensitive volume control can be adjusted from level 1-6 using the 6 preset audio buttons. Radio
volume increases more at level 6 and less at level 1 (road speed dependent).
Vehicles equipped with DSP do not use this feature.
Field Strength & Quality (F/Q)

: The station currently displayed can be assessed for field strength and quality.

An 'F' number (i.e. 1-15) is used to indicate the strength of the signal being received by the radio. A high 'F'
number indicates a strong signal.
A 'Q' number (i.e. 1-15) is used to determine the quality of the radio station broadcast including both the audio
and RDS signal if applicable.
DSP

: Digital Sound Processor

This function provides information about whether or not the vehicle is fitted with DSP. (1=Yes, 0=NO)
TP Volume

: Traffic Patrol

Lex, the speed sensitive volume has 6 settings, maybe the lowest one is ok for you? In RAD module (radio module) I do not recall disabling the GAL was an option but the setting the GAL to 1 through 6 - was...

What are you trying to accomplish by removing the speed sensitive volume and how is it on the way of your future installation?

Your The Man Term!

The Link JCL provided was for older radios and I couldn't get it into the service menu. I used your updated info for my newer Gen. Radio using the Select button and it worked perfectly. I lowered the GAL from it's inital setting @ 5 down to 1 and did a sport mode test drive It worked like a charm I can't hear the volume increasing at all anymore.... Now I can start pulling my interior and run some 1/0GA

Thanks a million kind sir!

how are things coming along?

BTW, the GAL changes volume around 40 MPH and the next step is around 80 MPH... i don't know if there is one more step - if there is, it would be at 120 MPH, naturally...

It's funny you mention that term. I was doing 120 today and I didn't notice the volume increase at all J/K It's nice to know those trigger points though. Thank you for that.

I will be doing the install this weekend. I will post pics of the adventure as it unfolds.
Here's a shot of my woofer. It's 70lbs. of sonic bliss... Elemental Designs 13Av.2

It's pretty Beefy

And I figured u guys might dig the box.... 2.4 cubes, Tuned to 32Hz, Kerf Port, Recessed mount W/ the custom Roundel @ Raised BMW lettering. All internal corners 45'ed with lots o' bracing
