Changed CCV's still oil smoke after extended idle PICS
Got home, took off the covers, and popped off the ccv caps, then took out the orange "rubber". On the pass side of the engine there was a ton of that milky shit all in there, drivers side was clean. I cleaned most of it out as best i could, scraped it out with a flathead, and i took off the 1 tube that runs from the pass ccv to the top of the throttle body, it had gunk in it, but air is flowing through it so i just blew a little compressed air through it to make sure and threw it back on. I did inspect the orange grommets and they did not seem to have any splits, which i thought already ok, either this ccv will fix maybe something wasnt working right cause of the gunk, or am i screwed and its the valve stem seals basically? I went out for a drive, warmed it up, then sat in a parking lot for 1 1/2 min or so and pulled away, same story still getting my smoke released upon going higher rpm. Another thing is pnoy mentioned running 5-20 oil in the other thread, in what sense would that help me with the oil consumption issue if it is probably the seals? Anything else i should try/look into or its just a straight shot answer: seals ? Here are the pics, Pass side: Drivers side: Pass side grommet flipped over Pass side cap and grommet removed Drivers side Tube removed pass side pass ccv to front of throttlebody Tube removed by pass ccv

I say seals.
But one thing you MAY try idk if you should im not an oil expert but when i had my e21 320i it smoked and the e21 people reccomended to substiture a quart of lucas oil stabilizer and use 20 50 oil. IT HELPED! smoke was reduced by ALOT, untill the car warmed up abit though. Man i Miss that car i bought it for fun and being greedy decided to make money on it had it only for about a month.

Hmm, you say it helped until it warmed up, so it was smoking before being warm anyways right?
My problem is i get no smoking if im constantly driving or cars not warm, but once i go run a few places and the cars warmed up, longer stoplight at a fourway and bam i release smoke once 1.5-2k rpm hit. The only other thing i can think of is messing around with the oils and weights like you mentioned but i need more of a fix so i dont see a huge ass cloud of smoke when i pull away. In reality whatever ill add the stupid quart more often, the smoke just really pisses me off cause i go detail it, car looks like a 100k and releases oil smoke clouds lol. If there is no other fix, im not TOO worried because i have a family friend who works on ferraris/lamborghinis/audis etc 24.7, so im sure he could do the seals with me for a few hundred $$$.

Im assuming we will be able to do it the way where you dont have to remove the heads as i read about it being done that way. He also works at a dealership so he has access to a ton of tools, lift etc.
Arent the seals under $200 for all of them (parts)? As long as its 1.5k max or under im gonna do them, dont know how much he will want for the time but ill be helping him, no way im gonna take it to the dealer and get quoted some astronomical balls drop to the floor price.

Its not your valve stem seals. Its sludge in your engine causing oil to be sucked back into the cylinders. That white stuff you saw? Well its all in your valve covers. Its blocking the flow of air and causing oil to be sucked right back into the engine. Dont worry, its common. All too much so due to BMW recommending 15000 mile oil change intervals. Oil breaks down, yes even synthetic oil. Do not wait 15000 miles to change your oil. Start there. Use Mobil 1 synthetic European Formula. You can use an oil flush if you feel comfortable doing it. Lubri Molly is what is recommended. Your ccv valves were the vehicle not the culprit of your problem. You are driving short distances usually??

Currently i am yes, and i would never in my life follow the 15k intervals, i use full syn in all my cars and changed them every 5k or so.
I bought it with 63.5k so i dont know the intervals PO did as i think they traded it in. Im at 67k now. Is this what i should get? http://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B003U5...sr=8-3&pi=SL75 How many bottles should i put in at one time, one enough? And how long should i change my oil after adding it? Thanks. And makes sense probably all the passages are filled with that crap, and causing the ccv not to intiate/work?
