Revival of the Subframe Tool Rental - Back In Black!

*******UPDATE******* - My friend TwinTurboGTR is now renting the tool as I traded it to him for some parts last year, PM him or me for his email address and he will handle rentals directly, thanks!

OK Folks the Tool Rental is officially back on, thanks to member davintosh for the original inspiration from last year:

http://www.xoutpost.com/bmw-sav-foru...ol-rental.html

These were the rules from davintosh's thread from last year which you can review:
  1. The rental fee is $60 for 8 days of use. If you need to keep it for more than that it's $10 for each subsequent day until the tool is returned.
  2. The clock starts the day you receive the package and stops the day you ship it back & send me a tracking number.
  3. Before I ship the tool to you, I ask that you send a deposit payment to me via PayPal of $220, as gift for friends/family only, I don't do PayPal fees.
  4. I'll send it out via USPS Priority Mail (insured, with delivery confirmation) at my cost at my earliest convenience; I'll shoot for the same day, but sometimes life gets in the way.
  5. Once you receive it, you use it and care for it as if it were your own; when you're done, you clean it up, put it back in the provided packaging, and return the kit by the same method (you'll need to get a fresh box Priority Mail box from the Post Office for the return trip; they're free.)
  6. When I receive the tool and verify its condition, I refund your deposit minus the rental fee.
  7. For now, rental is limited to members residing in the US lower 48 states only. If there is interest outside of that we can discuss shipment but all costs would be on your end.
THIS TOOL IS NOT TO BE USED WITH ANY AIR TOOLS. Please either go to the gym if you can't turn the wrench, or get a buddy to help, air tools will destroy this tool and the privilege for the Xoutpost members.

Here is Davintosh's great DIY link step by step with part numbers from last year:

http://www.xoutpost.com/922324-post39.html

As well, just an FYI, current best pricing on replacement bushings is $34.95 apiece (you need 4) for Meyle HD which is solid rubber (not fluid filled) and free shipping from FCP Euro:

BMW Axle Support Bushing Rear (X5) - Meyle HD 33316770454 | FCP Euro

If you need the tool please post up or PM me with an approximate date needed, it will be first come first serve, hope this is beneficial to members here, as we all will have to do these bushings once over the course of our X5's life, and many of us are due at the age of the vehicles and age of the original bushings.

RB,

Sign me up for the rental. I am buying all the parts little by little, to include all the Shocks and Struts, because my suspension is gone. I was going to buy the Subframe tool myself, but I will wait and see if you decide to get it.

I would be interested, I need to complete my suspension refresh on the 01 with struts and I'm sure the subframe bushings need replaced as well. Does anyone know if the diameter is the same as what is on the E46?

Different bushings on E53 than E46

Part # is 33316770454

Since there are more than a couple people interested in the rental I surely will be getting the tool and putting this back in rotation to help the forums out.

Myself and a local friend/member will be tackling our vehicles within the next few weeks, and then it will be up for rent. I'll change the language of the thread but post your interest here and your approximate time frame of rental, i.e. do you have bushings now and just waiting to go, when do you want to rent it etc.

Glad to hear this can go to good use, $300 is way too much for one job with the tool.

I'm interested. I have the Powerflex subframe/swaybar bushing and KW Var3 coilovers ready to go, will be doing the job this summer. 2 to 3" drop coming soon.

RB. I'll be interested later in the fall. I'll contact you then after getting the x5 suspension refresh parts together. My first car project this summer is a cooling refresh on my m roadster.

Thanks for putting this together!
