Why didn't BMW make a seat with the bottom from sport seat and the top from the comfort seat?
Best of both worlds ...something like the E38 sport seat..

The light wood throws off the interior but that's just my opinion, nonetheless a rare example!

Agreed...I'm still searching for a piano black trim with no luck..
I might just take mine out give it a good sand and paint it black with a high gloss finish on top...I think an hvlp would do a nice job...

Search German eBay for trim sets they pop up more frequently there, that's where I got my Titan silver trims from, less than half the price sellers here were asking

Ricky Bobby- I agree with you on the light trim. I was thinking of wrapping mine in 3M carbon fiber wrap. That way I could also peel it off if I ever decided to sell it and the future owner wanted it original. The biggest problem is finding a carbon fiber wrap that doesn't look "cheesy"...

To be done right, all the trim has to be taken off the car and wrapped and tucked under, I would also use 3M primer 94 on the backside for extra hold.

Some members have reported some issues with peeling but if you follow those steps you will have none.

Would have wrapped my trims but I got a screaming deal on German eBay for 190 shipped for a full OE Titan silver trim set so I just swapped mine out.

If you want to try your luck on eBay.de the keyword is "e53 interieurleiste"

Or if you prefer to wrap it I highly recommend 3M 1080 vinyl either in the gloss colors or the carbon fiber if that tickles your fancy

Estoril 4.8is, did you buy your x from a dealer somewhere in Texas back in 2012? I nearly pulled the trigger on an estriol x just like yours in august of 2012 that was down there.

Hi JCORREANYC, yes that was probably the one I bought. I started communication with the used car dealer in August and pulled the trigger and flew down in September to complete the sale. This X5 was originally sold through BMW of Houston where is was serviced it's whole life. It was then traded back into BMW of Houston on a new X5. The dealership then wholesaled it out at auction where a local used car dealer bought it on 07-09-2012 and offered it up for sale shortly thereafter on 08-08-2012... From there the rest is history...

I remember. It was a 1 owner car and the guy loved it and took care of it (according to the service manager at BMW who I called). The issue with that car was the air suspension. The owner was not a DIYer and had just spent $5k replacing bags and other components. The system still had issues and the guy didn't want to spend any more money so he traded it in. BMW couldn't CPO it so they let it go to auction. The service advisor told me that it had been cared for, but warned me that it had ongoing SLS issues that weren't easy for even BMW to diagnose.

Anyway, I still wanted to buy it so I started dealing with the guys who bought it off of auction. They were some of the most incompetent morons I have ever dealt with, so much so that after having them send me all the paperwork and booking a flight to Houston, I backed out of it and went with an Imola X in Philly. I ended up calling the owner of that dealership with a laundry list of issues for him to work out with his team. Too bad, that car was really beautiful, and rare!

I also remember there being some wires or a harness hanging out from under the dash on the driver side. Of course the guys at the dealership tried to tell me it was normal.

Anyway, glad it worked out for you! Looks like the car ended up in good hands.
