CD cover trim clip removal

One of my Labor Day endeavors was to finally replace my faded CD flap. And wouldn't you know it, the fasteners are down in a well space making prying them loose ....dumfounding.

Any tool suggestions? My concern is breaking the plastic backing. A few posters at bimmerforms had to resort to a drimmel tool.

I may go buy some smallish needle nose pliers. Hopefully I can get a good enough grip.

Kristophe you have to take that piece out to get to the door easier.

Remove the mid and then pry the two clips inward on the CD player cover, and you can remove the trim piece on your workbench. I recommend getting 3 new spring clips from the dealer for a buck as well, when I swapped mine for Titan silver I was able to pry the old clips off with a thin flat blade screwdriver and a utility knife, those things are on there good!

RB I previously removed the MID CD player and the door chassis; the picture didn't reflect that. I wanted a good close up.

I took it to my brother's and decided that since I have no use for the old trim we carefully drilled into the top of each aluminum post until each clip came off intact. But I still want to purchase new ones.

Oh ok I see now.

Yeah as long as you are replacing the trim you technically could just dremel the posts off the old trim as it's getting tossed anyway. I only kept mine in place since I got rid of my wood trim as a full set

Yes those spring nuts are on super tight. Just couldn't seem to work anything underneath all the while fretting I was going to crack/break the plastic backing. This new trim will look so much better and match nicely with the trims I got from bcredliner a while back. My old flap looked horrible so I didn't regret milling the posts.

You'd think I'd learn by now nothing with a BMW is an easy quick fix.

Trust me it wasn't easy for me to get those off without cutting the posts!

Each one when they finally released flung across the room lol! Enjoy the new trim man and maybe soon we will get our skid plates lol

Oh the skidplates; just in time for Christmas? I found a guy to professionally spray it for me. It's gonna look nice, no doubt.

I'm patient my friend sometimes it just gets frustrating. Cheaper than a 4.6iS kit I keep saying to myself!
