Abs/dsc problem

Having problems with abs/dsc, had a fault code for front right abs sensor, so changed it, after about 100 miles stopped for fuel as I pulled out the garage the abs started activating and wheel locking up and unlocking. Feels like the front right wheel.

Unplugged sensor and it was ok but obviously with abs/dsc deactivated. Had an auto electrician look at it, both wires to module have continuity, he said it was the module, put a new module in, reconnected sensor, and great stuff, getting the fault, front right wheel sensor transmits implausible signal.

Test drove it with dis plugged in and the front right sensor values are double that of the left I.e left sensor at 5kph right sensor at 10.

Any ideas? Tomorow I'm going to try a different sensor, and make sure the hole where the sensor goes is clean because the guy that changed it first had to drill it out

Sounds like you got the wrong sensor in and your mechanic (Gomer?) just did a red neck repair for you.

I replaced three wheel sensors in my BM Trouble U and not once did I have to drill anyone of them out. I did get a wrong wheel sensor from Turner Motorsport and when I compared it with the existing you could tell it was different, but when I email the service dept. at Turner they said the sensor they sent me was the one for my car.

Put it in and the wheel just locked up. Looked up the number that was on the wheel sensor and it was for a E70, not a E53. Sent it back to Turner at my cost and they refunded my money but didn't refund any of the shipping costs even though it was their mistake.

Did you compare the old sensor with the replacement sensor? Did you have to replace the plastic connector from the main wiring harness to the wheel sensor? The wires has to go back in the same order in the connector that they were removed.

The mechanic broke the old one trying to get it out then had to drill it out, I wanted to check the part numbers when I dropped the new one off but it was too late.

And no used the same connector there's a half moon shape inside I think so it can only go on one way.

But if he replaced the connector on the main wiring harness the wiring has to be put in the right location, that is why there's a half moon in the connector so you can't insert it the wrong way. I had to replace the plastic connectors from the main harness to wheel sensors because they always break when you try to pull them apart.

Il check tomorow, so if the sensor is connected up backwards, it could make the reading show double then?

Don't know but I do know that they have to be put back in the correct order. It's a Hall effect system so it is providing a pulse to the abs module. So instead of providing a + pulse, you could be sending a - pulse or no pulse at all.
