One angel eye/DRL not working? Replaced bulb
I'm new to the X5. When purchased I immediately installed LED bulbs. Took a sharp turn the other day and boom, got a a light on the dash saying one of my lights was out. It was the drivers side angel eye. So I replaced it and it still doesn't work? I swapped bulbs, and the pass. side works, but still the drivers side does not? Replaced with the orginal halogens, still no go. I checked the connection, but not the fuses yet...? Any ideas? Btw, I searched already, with no similar results. Thanks, - Zishan Last edited by Zishan; 07-06-2015 at 07:36 PM. |

There are no fuses for the lights, everything is controlled by the FRM module. If it sees short circuit for more than 50 ignition cycles it will disable this circuit permanently, setting a software flag. As per BMW the solution is to replace the FRM. You need a proper diagnostic equipment to read the codes from the FRM and see if this is the case.

I'm going through something similar to this. Both my AE work when it is on DRL mode. When I turn on the headlights, only the passenger side AE works. Weird! I don't have any warning lights on the dash...

Seems strange that it would happen just as I took a hard right hand turn. Will the iCarly help me read the error code and/or try to reset? |

You have to try to read the codes with whatever you have. There may have been a brief shortcut event happenning, long enough to register in the FRM, but not long enough to throw a check control message. Just fantasizing here, but you never know. It doesnt have to be a general problem with the bulbs, but a problem with this particular one.

You were correct, BMWhat is giving a hard code that I can't clear. Actually 2, unrelated I believe.
Thanks again for the help, - Zishan |

There is way to clear this code. If you know someone local familiar with WinKFP and Tool32, he may be able to fix it.
