Wow, you sound like a pretty tough guy. I'm impressed. I bet you're very well respected on your other forums because you don't take no shit from anyone. It sounds like you're probably well respected in real life, too, based on your self-proclaimed ability to deal with punks who have attitude problems.

Or, and I'm just supposing, you could be just like ard, a tough guy only behind a computer screen.

But let's be clear, there's really only one (or two) punks in this thread and ard is not one of them.

Update! The dealer said a standard diesel oil change was $290. When I told them I'm way off cycle with DEF/oil change intervals and it doesn't need DEF, he said knocking off the DEF fill would bring it to $260. I asked to be sure that wasn't including a fuel filter because I did it recently, he confirmed it was not. When I asked why 8 quarts and a filter cost $260 in a 3L diesel and 8 quarts and a filter cost $120 in a 3L gas engine, the service advisor couldn't tell me.
The dealership all but admitted to price gouging diesel customers so I'll continue to do oil changes myself.

Also, the CEL it was in for turned out to be a NOX sensor (the third). Very thankful for CPO!

Did you ask "what is the BMW published time allowance for an oil change- not what you mark it up to, but the BMW published hours...AND...what SPECIFICALLY does this include".

Dealer are allowed to make up whatever hours they want, but BMW publishes an allowance (Alldata and Mitchell both have this number as well). It would be interesting to add 8qts+filter+hrsxrate=??.

Anyway, even at 130 it is far easier for me to do it in 30 minutes in the comfort of my garage.

Finally, what CODES are you getting for that NOX sensor? What testplans have they run? How have they confirmed bad NOX? Almost unbelievable three have gone bad- more likely the sensor is fine, the Tech has failed to properly chase down the root cause...

I did the oil change myself as always and I feel very good about it. I love doing the work myself because I know it was done right. I found Lubro-Moly BMW LL-04 oil which was a good find and better than dealer oil. I also changed cabin filters AND recirculation filters which the dealer may not even know exists, haha. The code was P20EE. I got the truck at 45k miles and at about 50k, it had the P20EE code and NOx replaced. This last code was at 72k miles, and I think the history from BMW said NOx replaced under warranty before I got it....so that's three. This last time I reset it once and it came back with in 100 miles. Once I hit 100k I'm seriously considering a DPF, Ad-blue and EGR delete so I can be problem free after warranty.

I don't worry about my M3 or M5 out of warranty but this thing has a lot more complex systems that I don't fully understand and it's my DD so I don't have time to dick around with it.

Has the "delete" process been refined fairly well? Last I checked (when I was shopping for a used e70) There was one or two guys that you had to send your ECU to along with a ~$2500 check to have it reprogrammed. Be nice if there was an OBD flash or a piggyback!

This is one option. Yes you need to send them your ECU. Not sure why you can't OBD tune these cars.
