EGR error 4C87... But EGR disabled via tune?!

setup- I have a 2009 X5D (u.s.) with 123,000 miles and JR Auto tune that is supposed to have EGR programmed permanently closed/disabled. I've had it for approx. 10,000 trouble free miles (the tune, owned the car since 44k).

the idiot light- I got a Check Engine Light and pulled the code using iCarly Pro for BMW... the code was under the engine category (004C87) that stated "Low pressure exhaust gas recirculation cooler reduces cooling efficiency."

the question/ problem- is this code valid due to the stage 2 software supposedly eliminating the function of the EGR? or is there something else wrong? ....furthermore, what would you experts recommend? Eliminate the system now? replace the supposed failed low pressure cooler?

The car still seems to run perfectly minus the dash light staring at me. I googled and searched for this specific code and can't find anything specific... has anyone seen this error and symptom?

Thank you all in advance for your advice and help.

-Jeff

Does the tune disable both HP and LP EGRs? I always wondered about that because the 335d does not have the low pressure one so I assume you got an E70 specific tine.

It is definitely x5 specific but now that you mention it I'm not 100% sure of the EGR disable piece of the tune does both or what!? The thing still runs fantastic just all the sudden have this issue and I pulled the temp sensor from the LP EGR cooler and only the same code comes back.... I can clear it, drive the car with no CEL forever, but as soon as I shut it down and restart, it comes right back.

They suggested disconnecting the wiring from the EGR and LP cooler, I did that, cleared the codes, and it still came back, when I disconnected the the temp sensor it produced the same code and ran great, when I disconnected the EGR, it ran like it was stock or worse and still same code. Plugged it all back in and back to running great but still CEL.
