My next wheel/tire setup: 20x11 style 214s all around

Within the next 15k miles or so I will need new tires, and runflats are already out of the equation. No way I'm spending $1,500-$2,000 for tires.

I've never been one for staggered wheel and tire setups, so I plan to find a pair of matching Style 214 20x11 rear wheels and use them up front (my X5 has style 214s). I also plan to run 295/40 tires all around instead of the OEM 315/35. They are slightly taller (by 2.2%) but will be a bit more comfortable on Oregon's crappy roads (and less "bulgy" looking too).

Running 20x11s up front will basically be like having a 15mm spacer (16mm to be exact) up front, so no harm no foul.

Can't be done without a space. And if you do use a spacer, you will rub on the fender liner when turning the wheel fully. Without a spacer, you will rub on the suspension

With 315/35 tires yes, but I'm sure the narrower 295/40 tires will work without a spacer. Maybe slight rub on the lower tension arm, but that's relatively harmless.

214s fetch good money, why not just sell the set and go aftermarket so then you know it will fit right.

Because I really like Style 214s. I especially like how concaved the rear 20x11s are.

I just found a full set (one front wheel cracked) for $500 that I'll be picking up tomorrow. I'll get it fixed, and then either sell a full set of 20x10s or keep them and put on studded tires for heading to the mountains.

I run staggered rims but non staggered tires in the winter. The shop mistakenly rotated front to back. Even with 275/40 all around the 20x11 rim rubbed on the suspension up front (no spacer)

Where does it rub?

Well I just picked up a set of 214s for $400. One of the fronts has a chunk out of the lip from hitting a curb, but it's fixable. Next step is getting the bald Bridgestones off of them so I can start the repair and refinish on the four 20x11s I have.

I appreciate the benefits of being able to rotate but I think it will look silly. It's your car though. Good luck.

It will be no different than running a 16mm spacer up front, which is very common on this forum.
