BMW E70 X5 Wheel Carrier

Can you guys get these wheel carriers in the USA, they fit on to the new type tow hitch. they could be worth thinking about if you need to carry a genuine size wheel when you go on a long trip. These are available in Australia but I haven't seen one fitted yet. What are your thoughts??

Bozz.

Oooops, that last link only takes you to the accessories page, just go to the keyword search and type in "wheel carrier" this will take you to the detail page.

Yeah I saw it a while back. Very nice.

Any chance you can post that entire catalogue that you have as a pdf?

Holy cow! I could use one of that since I carry a full size spare tire for my long trips.

It does look like that the tire blocks the left side tail lights. Not sure of any legal and safety issues here in the U.S.

Looks like it might have it's own light or a reflector at the bottom.

Ok the latest information as of 30 minutes ago from BMW Australia. This was designed and built by BMW Australia, the part number in Australia is 8888 2000 066, it retails for about $2,572.50 and it is listed as a 6.5 hour fixing job as it has a fully integrated electrical wiring loom etc. So all up including labor and reprogramming etc this would cost about $3,500.00 dollars fully fitted.

It is attached to the tow bar main beam as a secondary attachment and this also allows you to have full use of your normal towball attachments for towing trailers etc. Rear camera still works but looses about 5 or 10% of veiw on the side were the wheel is hanging.

The original attached pdf document at the beginning of this thread has 2 pages, the second page shows the fitting details and operating diagrams etc and I was told that BMW Australia would share the design specification with any other BMW manufacturer IE USA or German manufacturers as it has already been fully approved to BMW design specs in Australia.

Bozz.
