20"s through carwash ?
Anyone out there with 20"s (214).. can you confirm or deny if you make it through the standard car wash or are the back (315mm) too wide?
Thanks

I have taken my 20s thru car wash once. It was a brand new hand car wash place with tracks. It was tight and the tire was rubbing on track plastic edge. Did not touch the wheel though, but was very close.

I tried two auto-car washes (in desperation of'course.) One was in VA and the other in NY. Both seemed to be at least 5-10 years old based on building looks. Neither one could accept the 315's, although one might have worked, but I didn't even want the rubber rubbing the rail for fear that the sidewalls were too low, and that the metal track/or swing arm for a brush might hit the wheels.
Hand car wash all the way!

It's too tight to be on the safe side, I would recommend against it !

my car-wash has a sign that 315 is the widest tire they accept... but I wouldn't take the risk, even with my 255's it's a tight fit sometimes if you don't properly line up...

And, even if the 8 buck/hr people are paying attention, there is no guarantee that any wash rack has guide rails
that won't gouge your wheels, esp. as the wheel rotates along the path...I'd take a Pasadena. GL,mD

Especially with those low profile tires. The wheel will probably be below the track. That's why I have chick wheels.

I always go to the ones without rails, no issues

I had one of my 18" stock wheels was scratched by the car wash place and I did not noticed until a day or two later. I stopped going to the car wash place and I have one guy coming to my place when I needed a wash.
Just be careful and check before you leave the car wash place if your have wide rims and low profile tire. |

If you are spending $70K+ on a car why even take it to an auto wash or even take a chance on something happening to it ?
