No sound no voice command no NAV voice
this morning i went into my X, i realized my CD is playing but no sound. I decided to drive off anyway. I noticed the iDrive is really slow as i was trying to switch to radio to see if it will work. Still audio output. I tried the voice commanad, nothing happened. I tried the sat nav, it works but no display in my HUD and no voice. I pulled over, shut down the engine, got out, locked the vehicle, unlocked, put the key in the ignition this time (forget about comfort access) and it still didnt work. Everything is really slow. Is this going to be a major problem? ANyone had similar issues before? thanks Josh |

I had this about six months back, technician fiddled around with the cabling in the bootspace and it all came back. Was very annoying at the time. Had two minor re-occurrences since then but they went quickly.

You're right StumpyPete. Indeed, this is annoying. |

1. How old is your battery?
2. TAKE A VIDEO of the fault, and what you are doing: just a cell phone video is fine, with your voice says "car is running, screen is dark, no response... etc, etc". Show them and/or give it to them. Tell then that is the proof of the failure. They can look for module based faults and communication issues- and even replace a few parts- without actually having the failure present when THEY have it. But they usually don't want to. Same as Toyota.... A |

beware when I had it, it came back and then went away again and stayed away - had no audio for about three weeks.

three weeks? wow..
and the video tip is a good one. I will do that next time. These Canadian dealers are f^%%ked up. Well some of them..lol I asked him (guy at dealer) if i need a firmware update and immediately he said no, even without checking my vehicle history. Besides all the promises they made, that my gas mileage will be good after 15000kms and all; I only get about 480 to 500 a tank of gas - if Im lucky. Im sitting at 16.9L/100. |

I'm starting to question the real world driving economy of the 35d
mine is still ' running in ' with about 1000km on it ..and econ is showing 14.4L/100 - this likely reflects the typical driving pattern ... urban/kids/school run etc ... plus some 'fun' acceleration here and there etc ..I'm starting to think the V8 would not be too bad afterall in comparison ..
