Smile Picking up my 2.5-ton driving machine on Friday

After a 2-month wait, I finally got THE call from the dealer today. I will be picking up my X5 on Friday! Here are the specs (Canadian options):

2011 BMW X5 xDrive50i
Black Sapphire Metallic
Black Nevada Leather
Dark Bamboo Trim
Audiophile Sound Package
Executive Package
M Sport Package
BMW M 20" Double Spoke Alloy Wheels - Style 333M (for summer)
BMW M 19" V Spoke Alloy Wheels - Style 298M (for winter)

I will post the customary pics this weekend. I can't wait to finally drive that beast!

Crap!!! Just got a call from the dealer: they found that the engine is slightly leaking oil during quality assurance so they can't deliver it to me today. Should I worry or that happens regularly with new X5?

Welcome to the board! You'll enjoy it here. Oil-no we are not used to seeing leaks.

Cheers,

After discussing the problem with BMW Canada, they came to the conclusion that they should install a whole new engine. To be honest, I don't feel comfortable with that since it's a brand new vehicle. I'm worried this rather major operation could cause other problems. Should I ask the dealer for an entirely new vehicle? Should I ask them to provide some sort of extended warranty free of charge? What would you do? Your thoughts are greatly appreciated.

I wouldn't worry too much about it, since the install/labour would be covered under the new car warranty. If problems begin to arise, there's always the lemon laws, although slightly weaker in Canada.

blue dragon will become famous soon enough
I wouldn't want an engine replacement on a brand new vehicle

Screw that, i'd order a new car....the factory put's hundreds/thousands of engines in on the new car line...the local mechanic 1 per year?

I agree, don't accept an engine replacement before you even take delivery. Order a new one.
