TPMS sensors changed in 2010. What year is your X5? Maybe the winter set have newer (or older) TPMS sensors.

Either it's the wrong TPMS set, or they're too old ...
TPMS have an average (battery) life of 4 to 5 years.

Mine is 2013 And the wheels were new from dealer nov 2012 so well under 4-5 year life and def for x5 since they came off one. Only thing is the x5 they came from were 2008or2009 so dealer maybe put in tpms for that one?

Wrong TPMS ...
Remove and try to sell them, you may get $80 - $100 for the set. Get new ones. These are priced right and work just fine: TPMS fits BMW X5 Tire Pressure Sensors

Problem develops if the tech drops the TPMS in the tire because of clumsy fingers and now needs to spent time fishing it out ... Shouldn't cost more than $10/wheel-tire. Alternatively, drive with TPMS light on.

cost me 80 to balance and swap out the summers for winter. literally all they had to do was take off and put on. so dont want to know what this shop would charge but yeah realistically I'll probably drive around with the light on. thanks again
