Electronic damping control malfunction
I've been getting this annoying message pop up and I'm wondering if someone can point me in the right direction. I don't want to spend $130 or whatever it is for the dealer to tell me I need to replace the front struts (satellites?). I have a background repairing electronics (I own a cellphone repair shop and work with boards and tiny soldering repairs) and I would really like to take a dab at it first before I spend $1-2k in repairs. After all, I might be able to fix it and in the long run help others in the same boat as me in the future. Ran bmwhat and I'm getting error "HSensor signal VL BMW 630F" "HSensor signal VR BMW 6310" https://imagizer.imageshack.us/v2/53...673/0AoobV.jpg I'm not exactly sure what it could be but I recently acquired this vehicle and I knew about this issue beforehand (no background info on what caused it) No ride height issues. I'm not exactly sure what the error means.. sensor is bad? connection issue? If someone can shed some light, I can take a dab at it and post back with results. Thanks |

That is the problem with non-OEM scanner, it will not give explanation or run a test schedule. Usually when both sensors are problematic that points to a problem somewhere else. It could be the wiring, or the power supply to the sensors(+5v, probably supplied by the control unit). Of course that is just a shot in the dark from a few thousand miles away, but it may give you some direction.

Same car with the blown trace on the window switch control board?

Yes same car. Window switch worked fine but it broke later. I had this error before that happened. Window switch is fixed now but this error lingers. It was there beforehand.

Just thinking out loud. Ive had 2 X5s, perhaps 85k total miles, 5 years...never had a single electrical module fail. You've had two in one vehicle.
One therefore thinks about a common fault trigger. "thinks" as in considers or wonders. Still you fix what is broken, but if you get a third issue you might look at some sort of causal factor. Voltage spikes, regulator, grounds, etc, etc. |

I was able to figure out the issue.. Looked around the cabled and found 2 damaged wires.. I resoldered them together and bam back in business..
https://imagizer.imageshack.us/v2/53...901/dtsbFA.jpg I wrapped them around in electrical tape as I didn't have shrink wrap but no more error after that. |

asma123,
I got this error popping up today. Do you have any more details on what you found? Your imageshack link is no longer valid. Thanks |

asma: there's a guy over in sapperton, he has a lot of diag gear & a good idea of what he's doing. cheaper than your local friendly bmw money grabber. for future reference, seeing how you have an N62...
