Thanks for the video link. It's more informative than still photos. The front end looks very similar to the new 3 series which is not good IMHO. The headlights may be smaller than the current model. The body looks wider which gives it a sportier look. May be in the end the overall look won't be as bad as I imagine it to be.

Oh what fun 'jobs' some people have. I can hear the conversation now: "Matthius, Ich brauche dich heute die neue F15 auf dem Nürburgring fahren" "Ja ja, immer mehr Arbeit"........
Sigh. |

I think the video image has been stretched... Look at the end when in pulls into parking lot with another bimmers - those look wider too!

Damn you BMW! Just when I find something I like about the new design, it's a mirage.

Love the video as it shows the 'haunches' of the new X5. In too many of the pictures it appeared to be slab-sided, which might be okay on an Audi, but it doesn't work for a BMW. I like the fact that BMW doesn't just create a blobby cavern like a Lexus, Acura, etc., even if it means giving up a bit of total interior volume.
Now we just have to hope that BMW does the right thing in making it lighter, and bringing diesels to the USA. I hope that they don't focus on making a heavyweight hybrid over a diesel for this market! |
