English translation for X6 part of press release. The only thing coming to US will be the N55 inline six engine. BMW X6 with more efficient six-cylinder engines. Now more than ever impressed with the BMW X6 in spring 2010, not only by its stunning design and a unique expression of the brand's driving pleasure but also a unique competitive environment efficiency. A new generation of straight-six diesel engines for the BMW X6 xDrive40d and BMW X6 xDrive 30d and the first inline six-cylinder petrol engines with BMW TwinPower Turbo and High Precision Injection in the BMW X6 xDrive35i VALVETRONIC ensure faithful to the development strategy BMW EfficientDynamics again even with these models for a optimized balance between performance and fuel economy. The newly developed and now with an all-aluminum crankcase-equipped 3.0-liter diesel engines result in improved performance by 7 kW to 180 kW/245 hp for the BMW X6 xDrive40d xDrive30d respectively, at 15 kW to 225 kW/306 hp for the BMW X6 - combined with a reduced by around 10 percent of average consumption compared to previous models. It corresponds to the principle of Variable Twin Turbo, which will already just above the idling speed, first, a smaller and also at higher load requirement will be a great charger active. Between 1 500 and 2 500 min-1, this drive makes its maximum torque of 600 Newton meters, it reaches its peak at 4 400 min-1. The performance increase allows the BMW X6 xDrive40d an acceleration from zero to 100 km / h in 6.5 seconds, which increased efficiency is reflected in its average fuel consumption of 7.5 liters per 100 kilometers in the EU test cycle. Impressive torque also distinguish the BMW X6 from xDrive30d, Its engine has a charging system with variable turbine geometry, has already reached its peak at 4 000 min-1 and is between 1 750 and 3 000 min-1 a maximum torque of 540 Newton meters available. Thanks! I understand that diesel X6's are not going to be available in the US. I am interested in the N55 (single turbo) and the 8 speed transmission though. I am assuming both of those will make it into US X6's. The press release says Spring time ... so does that mean there will just be a break in 2010 X6 production for the introduction of the N55 and 8 speed transmission? Or will the changes be the start of the 2011 model year?

I am assuming the 8 speed transmission is also standard across the X6 (and X5) range for the 2011 model year? |

I am very excited about this! I have been waiting over 6 months for this, so now i can finally order my car!
What is nice - 1. More horsepower 2. 10% better fuel efficiency !! According to official numbers it is even better than my current 535d! But I wont hold my breathe! 3. And the new Active Cruise Control with STOP and GO is just absolutely great!! Which means that if u have set your cruise control to 120, and u hit traffic, the car will not just stop, but will drive by itself again as the traffic clears up! Very nice! |
