Here's a quick overview of the MediaBridge on a NAV-equipped M3:

The size changes on the font is present in FW 0.98 and has already been fixed, simply flash the module with the new firmware (mini USB) and you're set. Since the modules are end-user upgradeable, features can be added immediately as they become available.

This will show iPod/iPhone operation as well as Sirius and Bluetooth/A2DP operation. More information will be presented shortly.

2005 X5 w/ Dice Silverline, no audio

I installed my Dice Silverline for my X5 today, everything seems to be communicating between the ipod and the factory radio (I see text, I can use the factory controls to change between songs, etc) - but NO SOUND.

I do have DSP - but since I have both the 3 pin and 6 pin connectors at the back that plug into the Dice unit plug, I was under the assumption I didn't need the DSP converter box. And I really don't want to spend $75 on one if I don't need it.

Help....!

It is likely you are one of the rare few with a MY05 that has Digital DSP. Was your X5 originally equipped with a CD Changer?

Tom, my X5 did not have a factory CD changer. In the back of the truck the "black box" has a very small hole that looks like a small coax cable could be plugged into it. There is no cable plugged into it currently. I guess I could order the DSP adapter - at this point I'm not sure what else to do.

Would a place like Best Buy be familiar with Dice installs on BMW's? We don't really have any local car stero shops where I live.

That is your factory amp, which all will have the coaxial input - whether equipped with DSP or not. I would recommend purchasing the adapter - if not needed, simply return it.

Best Buy is great for picking up a washer or microwave, not for working on your BMW.

Can somebody help me out? On some songs it is very distracting because you can hear the static in the background. I checked the DIP settings, and they were all good.

I just did a search and came up with something about the wiring--could somebody explain this further? do you think my dice unit is bad?

2004 X5, Non nav, non DSP
I will need a little more info. Does the "static" happen on its own, or is this something you can replicate with particular button presses?

tom, just a followup on my 2005 X5. I did have the digital DSP. I bought a DSP converter box from macmall.com for $69 (they only had one left, must have been a clearance sale or something) - and now everything works great.

Hey Tom, bought my DICE silver line last year for my 2005 x5 4.4i. All has worked well but I now have an iPhone 4 and the DICE only plays the song that was playing prior to plug in.

Is there an upgrade available?

Thanks,

Leo

So are the 3 pin and 6 pin plugs the ones that plug into the back of the CD player? Are there similar plugs further up the loom?

Thanks

Ken
